About Chrissy

Hi! My name is Chrissy, and I live in the Tampa, Florida area. I am both a proud mom and a former birthmom, which means my journey through motherhood has taken many different paths. I placed two of my children for adoption and raised two others, and today my kids are 23, 19, 17, and 12. Each of them has shaped who I am, and my experiences as both a parent and a birthmom have given me a unique perspective that I carry with me every day.

After my placements, I was given the incredible opportunity to turn my personal story into something meaningful for others. Being able to connect with and support birthmoms has become one of the greatest blessings of my life. I know how heavy the emotions around placement can be, and I want other birthmoms to feel seen, understood, and never alone. Sharing my story has allowed me to walk alongside women during some of their hardest moments, and I consider that both an honor and a calling.

When I’m not traveling to meet birthmoms, I make time for the simple joys that keep me grounded. I love spending sunny days at the beach, hosting barbecues with friends, and getting lost in a good book. My 7-year-old pit bull, Samson, is my loyal sidekick and makes sure I stay active and smiling.

Chrissy Story

I found out I was pregnant when I was 18 years old, 6 months of high school. I was living with my parents and relying on them for everything. When I saw the at-home pregnancy test was positive I was immediately filled with an overwhelming sense of panic, worry, and fear of the unknown. I was only 18. How could I take care of a child when I was still a child myself?
I immediately told the father of the baby that I was expecting and that was the last time I heard from him until I was 6 months pregnant. During those 6 months, I had decided that it would be best to place my baby for adoption. If I kept my baby, the responsibility would have ultimately fallen on my parents, which would not be fair to them or to my baby. I loved this child so much already and I wanted him to be able to experience things in life that I knew I could never provide. I knew I could give him love- but as far as a stable life, I knew it wasn’t possible at the time. I also wanted to bless a family who couldn’t have a child and longed for one.

I was lucky enough to have a great support system during this time. My mom was the one who found Jodi’s information in our local newspaper. After I spoke with Jodi for the first time, I felt like an enormous weight was lifted off my shoulders. That feeling of panic and worry was almost gone- not completely, because adoption is a life-changing decision- but it made me feel like someone understood me and what I was going through.

It was the hardest decision of my life, but the best for my baby.

Throughout my pregnancy, I kept in touch with Jodi regularly. I was able to express what I was looking for in a family for my baby. I was even able to choose a family that had similar beliefs, values, and traditions to my family which was important to me. When I chose the family, we met for dinner, and it was amazing. Although everyone was nervous, it was nice to see what kind of people they were, and it was very reassuring. After I met them, I felt like everything was going to be okay. It was all coming together.

I chose to have the adoptive parents in the delivery room with me because I wanted them to experience my baby’s life from the very first breath. I didn’t know what to expect but with my mom, Jodi, and the adoptive parents, I successfully gave birth to a beautiful baby boy. I was overcome with emotion. I wished so badly that I had the means to take care of this precious boy but I knew that if I didn’t choose adoption, both of our lives would be a struggle and because I loved him so much, I wanted more for him. I also knew that this wasn’t the end of anything. It was just the beginning of a wonderful relationship between all of us.

Fast forward 23 years later. After 18 years of pictures, letters, updates, my son and I talk met and we talk on a regular basis. He lives out of state, so we always try to see each other at least once a year. He is in his last year of college and is happy, healthy, and loved by so many people. He has lived an amazing life at only 23 years old, and he’s got his whole life ahead of him.

Adoption gave my baby a future full of love and stability.

If you are thinking about adoption, please know that there are people out there who have been through it and understand. My mom always told me, “The right thing to do isn’t always the easiest thing to do” and that could not be truer about placing my baby for adoption. I knew it was the right thing to do. It was the most difficult decision I have ever had to make in my life, but it was the best decision I’ve ever made.
